BDP canvasses for votes in Mogoditshane
02 Sep 2019
The President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, has urged Mogoditshane residents to vote Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) candidates in the general election.
Speaking at the launch of Mogoditshane prospective parliamentary candidate, Mr Tumiso Rakgare, Dr Masisi said the BDP vote would enable the party to continue developing lives.
He said voting Mr Rakgare would enhance BDP’s commitment to provide services to Batswana. He said rejection of the supplementary budget of P900m of the Masama water project by the opposition and some BDP MPs was a clear indication that Batswana should introspect and vote wisely.
Therefore, President Masisi called on Mogoditshane residents to take Mr Rakgare to Parliament.
Dr Masisi said the caliber of Mr Rakgare was the type of MPs he wanted to work with to better the lives of Batswana.
The Masama water project was planned to address water deficit within greater Gaborone.
In his acceptance, Mr Rakgare promised electorate to work efficiently with Dr Masisi once voted to Parliament.
He said he would also declare his assets and liabilities once voted as per the recently approved bill on Declaration of Assets and Liabilities.
Earlier on, Dr Masisi met with BDP elders in Mogoditshane.
He applauded the elders for upholding the pillars of the BDP and recognise the importance of voting for the BDP.
He said the BDP would continue to bring peace, stability and security on the lives of Batswana.
Mogoditshane BDP veteran chairperson, Mr Dibotelo Dibotelo, assured Dr Masisi of their vote, saying they recognised the efficient leadership of the BDP. Mr Dibotelo said BDP had maintained its pillars and continue to develop Batswana. ENDS
