Bobirwa to host district RADP pageant

Bobirwa sub-District will host both the sub-district and the district’s Mr and Miss RADP beauty pageant events at various dates.
Speaking at the Bobirwa Sub-council sitting August 26, chairman Mr Sylvester Masweu said the sub-district’s event would be held at Bobonong Community Hall August 30 while the Central District Council (CDC) superior show would be at Matshekge Hill School on September 21.
The sub-District event will pave way for the Central District showpiece where the fairest of them all from the sub-districts would justify their selection and further advance motivations as to why they deserved a spot to represent the district at the national event.
“I am reliably informed that preparations are progressing well and our contestants are currently on boot camp which started on August 19 to 29 at Mapanda Conservation Trust in Lepokole,” said Mr Masweu who drummed support for the success of both shows.
On other issues, Mr Masweu said the affirmative action initiative continued benefitting the intended targets in the sub-district.
He said the 14 beneficiaries they advocated for at department of tertiary education funding had been successful and beneficiaries had received sponsorship letters.
“We commit to continue supporting them in all ways possible to ensure that they successfully accomplish their dreams of attaining higher education,” he said.
The students, he said, were each assisted with P1 400 settlement allowance that covered, among other things, transportation, accommodation and food.
He also said students enrolled at brigades who did not receive government sponsorship would be credited a monthly allowance of P 1 100 to help with transport, rental payments and supply of cooking gas.
The sub-district remote area communities reportedly assisted 34 prospective recruits with transport fare and pocket money to go for Botswana Defence Force selections in Palapye and Francistown. Ends
