Molepolole needs capable representatives
26 Aug 2019
The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) chairman and vice president, Mr Slumber Tsogwane says Molepolole could have long been developed, had Bakwena elected capable representatives.
Mr Tsogwane was responding to a plea made by Molepolole North constituents delivered by the constituency campaign manager, Mr Ndula Kgarebe at the launch of Molepolole North MP hopeful, Mr Oabile Regoeng and council prospective candidates on Sunday.
He told BDP supporters that had the P900 million supplementary budget been approved in the last session of Parliament to hasten water supply to villages south of Dibete including Molepolole, plans could be underway to end the dire water shortage in the affected villages.
However, he said Parliament was not involved in awarding of tenders, but rather allocates funds for various projects.
In addition, he said those MPs who opposed the bill should have taken the matter to relevant authorities being the PPADB and DCEC.
He said the BDP emphasised on first growing the economy to create employment opportunities and ultimately increase social grants.
Mr Tsogwane appealed to the electorate to vote for his party, since President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s administration had already addressed many challenges facing the nation.
The vice president indicated that the president had embarked on a robust campaign to solve many issues concerning the youth such as unemployment through such fora as town hall meetings to expose them to economic possibilities, since the BDP advocates for a knowledge-based economy and an inclusive government.
Molepolole North branch chairperson, Mr Sonny Bakwena said this party was going to do everything possible to wrestle the constituency from the opposition, while Mr Kgarebe highlighted that all those who had lost the party’s primary election had since accepted the defeat and were working with those who won as a formidable unit, going into the general election.
As such, he said they were confident that they would win the constituency.
Prospective MP candidate, Mr Regoeng assured the vice president that victory was certain under President Masisi’s capable hands. ENDS
