Boko promises improved economy
25 Aug 2019
Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) leader, Advocate Duma Boko has promised to build a sustainable economy that would enhance the standard of living.
Advocate Boko was speaking at a rally in Letlhakane Saturday to launch Boteti East UDC prospective parliamentary candidate, Mr Tshenolo Saakane, and council candidates.
He said the UDC manifesto talks about upgrading the lives of Batswana by offering them better health care services and free education that would be compulsory and universal.
He said stated that, among other things, the UDC intended to increase the old age pension from P530 to P1 500.
For his part, Mr Saakane said 2019 was the time to change the political landscape.
He said shortage of land was a major issue in Boteti.
Some companies, he said, had confiscated land from ordinary people, alleging that Boteti residents were denied rights to grazing land, boreholes and the right to own farms.
Roads in Boteti, Mr Saakane said, were poor and so was the standard of education, which he said was characterised by shortage of stationery.
Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse, said it was time to change government and urged the electorate to go for youthful leaders with the potential and vision to take the country forward. ENDS
