The Alliance for Progressive is hopeful to ignite a learning and skills development revolution that will inspire passion for success and restore Batswana’s confidence in their capability of self-reliance says AP President, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe.
Speaking at the launch of Gaborone Central prospective parliamentary candidate, Dr Phenyo Butale, Mr Gaolathe said the AP was committed to building a new Botswana with a well run economy that cared for all the citizenry and ensure that all had jobs that afford a comfortable lifestyle.
He said the current education system was creating a generation of social misfits adding that the system was churning out university graduates who were unable to solve problems relating to social and technological development.
He therefore highlighted that when voted in to power, the AP would invest 50 per cent of the education budget on vocational training, adding that the country should strive to produce well trained students with problem solving skills with some progressing to the highest levels through the artisanal and other streams.
Mr Ndaba pleaded with voters to familiarise themselves with AP manifesto as it brought hope for a new Botswana and it addresses bread and butter issues that affect an ordinary Motswana.
He said AP offered the best prospects of the new Botswana, particularly in cultivating private sector growth since it was widely acknowledged to be an essential component in the alleviation of poverty in any given society.
The AP, he said was committed to building strong democratic and economic institutions that were robust, inclusive and infused with checks and balances
He noted that AP desired realistic transformation that would empower the livelihoods of Batswana for good adding that the manifesto presented hope for the hopeless in their drive to restore some long lost dignity and pride in the lives of many Batswana.
Mr Gaolathe stated that one of his party’s main objective was to offer hope for free self-expression and full participation in the political discourse hence he called every citizenry to full exercise their constitutional right and contribute towards nation building.
Consequently, Mr Gaolathe hailed the incumbent Gaborone Central legislator as visionary leader who has the interests of the constituents at heart. He therefore pleaded with voters to ensure that they re-vote him back to Parliament so as he may continue to advocate for their constituency development and the improvement of their livelihoods.
Dr Butale implored his constituents to continue pinning their faith on him as he commits to carry on with being a faithful and reliable legislator. His commitment to serving this constituency, he said was immense citing the construction of the Maru-A-Pula clinic as one of the developments that he advocated for.
He vowed to ensure that facilities in the constituency were utilized optimally for the improvement of the lives of Batswana.
Dr Butale said he was committed to champion urban tourism through the redevelopment and repositioning of the main mall as tourism attraction. Ends
