 In just a few weeks’ time, Botswana will join in South Africa’s and Zambia’s reality show Date My Family. 

Date My Family Botswana Season 1 will air on Thursdays at 9:30pm starting July 18 on DSTV’ Zambezi channel 162.

The show, which is sponsored by Botswana Life Insurance and H&G Advertising, will run 13 episodes.

In a press brief on June 26, chief executive officer of Botswana Life Mr Ronald Samuels indicated that their partnership with Multi Choice Botswana was of benefit to the local creative industry as there will be an invaluable amount of skills exchange.

He said with the reality show, the creative industry could further grow and impart skills to younger generations of filmmaker, directors, producers and set designers as well as other disciplines in the industry.

Also, Mr Samuels indicated that because of the family aspect in the show, it was only fitting to partner with Multi choice.

He said many could relate with the show, adding that the show itself creates a sense of viewership community, conversation and shared joy among families.

He also added that as a financial broker, they saw it imperative to remind Batswana of the importance of financial literacy.

Multi Choice Botswana managing director Ms Katlego Arone indicated that the idea came up in 2017 as a beneficiation project.

 She said after realising that Batswana watch Date My Family South Africa in large numbers, they decided to venture into Date My Family Botswana as well.

Ms Arone said the production would use local talent, venues and businesses.

Date My Family Botswana will start in Gaborone and then roll out to other parts of the country as soon as the marketing strategy for the show has been carried out fully.
