Residents of Francistown and surrounding areas will on August 31 congregate at Molapo Leisure Gardens to raise funds for charitable causes during the first annual northern family fun and wellness day.

The charitable event will be graced by city mayor, Sylvia Muzila in an endeavor to collect donations to assist a community organisation, Home of Hope, which looks after mentally challenged individuals.

Event organiser, Tshepo Kefhitilwe said serving the community and giving back to those in need had always been his dream, hence he decided to host such an event that would benefit the less privileged.

He noted that Home of Hope for mentally challenged people organisation had been running for three years.Kefhitilwe aka Dj Phat-Tee, who is also a music promoter, said the spirit of giving back to the community after hosting events was essential for organisers alike.He added that having a successful event was dependent on the support they would receive from the community and encouraged people to attend in large numbers to ensure that their dream was achieved.

He said he was confident that both adults and children would be wowed by the day’s activities, adding that all participants were allowed to donate anything that they could afford during the event. The event will kick off with a wellness programme in the morning where participants will be taken through their paces with various activities such as aerobics, water slides, tug of war and 5-aside soccer as means to prepare their muscles and body for the rest of the day’s activities.

The family fun day activities, he added, would include a teen dance party, guitar sing-along, play station multi-player games, dress up, jumping castle and horse riding among others.

The charitable event will afford DJs and artistes such as DJ Bunz, Que Rap and B-Block, to mention a few,  the opportunity to promote their talent.

DJ Phat-Tee explained that tickets will be sold at P50 for adults, P30 for kids while P70 will be payable for those who buy tickets at the gate.He further appealed to stakeholders and people who were willing to sponsor their event so that it becomes a memorable one to come onboard. ENDS
