BDP yet to receive resignation letters
19 Jun 2019
Chairman of Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) communications and international relations sub-committee, Mr Kagelelo Kentse, says Tsholetsa House is yet to receive letters of resignations from Central District councillors, who have allegedly quit the party.
In an interview, Mr Kentse said, despite the said councillors having served the council chairman with resignation letters, formal communication from the councillors had not reached the party office.
"Until the party receives such letters, we cannot confirm nor deny their departure," said Mr Kentse. However, he said the party was aware of the mass resignation, albeit through social media.
Quizzed if it was necessary to notify the party since the affected councillors had written to the CDC leadership, Mr Kentse said as members of the party, councillors needed to send their communication to the party since their departure affected the party standing at the CDC chambers.
Earlier today, 10 councillors tendered their resignation letters to CDC chairman, Mr Peter Williams, with representative of the defecting councillors, Mr Baemedi Kuduman saying about 20 will be jumping ship to the newly formed Botswana Patriotic Front. ENDS
