Voters roll available for scrutiny
12 Jun 2019
The Independent Electoral Commission informs public that the first supplementary voters’ roll has been published and available for inspection.
A news release from IEC urges the public to visit offices of the principal registration officers in the 57 constituencies starting from today until July 3 during working hours to confirm if their names are correctly spelt and registered under the right polling district.
The release further states that any person registered as a voter in any of the said constituencies who wishes to object to the inclusion in the roll of the constituency of any person’s name should deliver their objection to the principal registration officer of that constituency not later than 21 days after publication of notice.
Meanwhile, the IEC further states that following the expiry of the inspection period of general roll on May 20, the roll has now been certified.
“Therefore any person who is registered as a voter in respect of any polling station in any other polling district/constituency, may make application for registration transfer at the IEC office of the constituency in which the other polling station is situated,” states the release.
The release further states that transfer of registration will continue until dissolution of Parliament.
The release further states that where a voter loses their registration card or is destroyed, they may be issues with duplicate card at any IEC office, any day except on the day fixed for polling. ENDS
