28 Apr 2019

The Alliance Francaise held the first pottery exhibition recently called tradition versus modern.

The director, Aurelie Gbeffa in her welcome remarks said the exhibition was for cultural exchange and to enhance Botswana culture. Alliance Francaise, she said organised the pottery exhibition to showcase the art of pottery.

On display was the shweshwe fabric, which Gbeffa said showcased another traditional art form from Botswana.

The exhibition had different crafts from Raku pottery, which takes its roots from the traditional Japanese art pottery and had an African style.

Also, on display were some from Gabane pottery, which aims to modernise the ancient African pottery. Gbeffa also encouraged those interested in learning and appreciating pottery to register for a workshop at Gabane pottery to be held May 4. The event was sponsored by Timba Trading, Sanitas and French Embassy. ENDS
