Gospel online radio mends souls

The book of Job in the Holy Bible says “Job curses the day he was born, comparing life and death to light and darkness.
He wishes that his birth had been shrouded in darkness and longs to have never been born.”
This came as a result that one day Satan appeared before God in heaven.
Then God boasts to Satan about Job’s goodness, but Satan argues that Job is only good because God has blessed him abundantly.
Satan challenges God that if given permission to punish the man, Job will turn and curse God. God allows Satan to torment Job to test this bold claim, but he forbids Satan to take Job’s life in the process and Job never insulted nor deserted the Lord.
This was the verse that consoled and encouraged Gofamodimo Sethole, the director and founder of Rera Online radio station to take a step in setting up such a radio.
Sethole’s personal challenges aspired her to come up with Rera radio aimed at sharing the word of God with anyone who could listen and to help those who were going through trials and tribulations that God was watching every situation of his children therefore they should not forsake him.
The non-denominational radio was officially launched in June after being registered legally and given the go ahead by Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA).
Not affiliated to any church, the radio is also non political.
Sethole said in an interview that she choose to use radio to spread the word of God as the world was digital, adding that she wanted to flow with the contemporary world.
She said she visited Pulpit Radio Station in South Africa in a quest to seek collaboration with one of the radio stations locally, and that was when she decided to give Rera online radio a try.
The radio, she said, was worldwide as it was listened to as far as China and America, adding that they carried a research and the findings showed that people had the desire to listen to such a radio and to spread the word of God.
Sethole invited all those who wished to share the word of God to the world to come on board to help the radio accomplish its objectives, adding since the radio was not affiliated to any church all those interested were welcome.
“I encourage local teachers and pastors to come on board to do the job because I have realised that we have very excellent and dedicated teachers here in Botswana,” she said.
She added that they were currently negotiating with network providers to host their radio app, stating that the station was awaiting a go ahead from BOCRA to have a community radio station hopefully in 2019.
Giving a commentary on the reception of the radio by locals, she said people loved the radio but the challenge was that most people did not have access to Internet.
For her part, Rera online radio chief administrator, Omphemetse Malema said the radio broadcasted 24 hours with an eight hour repeat.
Malema said the radio was expected to be played live soon, adding that the radio broadcasted from 6 am to 2pm and after it was repeat.
She encouraged locals to familiarise themselves with the radio because the Bible says people need to be freed every day.
Rera radio, she said, entered into an agreement with International Ministry Christianity based in Australia to stream them live.
Malema mentioned that the radio had a number of programmes such as Singles ministry, The answer, Stepping out of faith, Biblical view on news and Be still just to mention a few.
