Kgatleng Social Clubs campaign for blood donation

19 Jun 2018

Kgatleng Social Soccer Clubs in partnership with Moje Foundation recently held a one-day blood donation campaign themed: Blood Connects Us All, as a way of promoting health awareness in the community.

Botswana Social Soccer Association President, Mr Sugar Molefe said they were worried about the loss of lives due to the shortage of blood supply, hence the campaign, which attracted social clubs from Kgatleng District.

It has been stated that Botswana has not been able to reach the 40 000 units of blood required annually, while the shortage of blood in some unfortunate cases has resulted in the loss of lives.

To this, Mr Molefe said everyone was affected by the shortage of blood supply, hence the need for all to make it their responsibility by donating blood.

He said he was impressed by the turn up of the social clubs that graced the occasion, and encouraged the community to donate blood regularly, saying by so doing, they were saving precious lives.

Founder of Moje Foundation Mr Otsile Moje said the campaign encouraged young people to take part in community activities in order for them to make a difference.

La Famiglia Social Club secretary general Ms Bridget Mogapaesi said donating one pint of blood made a  difference as the blood would be used to help save a life somewhere in the country.

Ms Mogapaesi further said the donation would not only benefit the nation, but would be beneficial to oneself too. ENDS
