African Youth Union Commission calls for submissions

African Youth Union Commission (AYUC) has unveiled two competitions aimed at giving the youth a voice on how Africa is to be developed.
And the organisation is calling on young people to participate in the competitions.
The commission’s liaison officer, Mr Baboloki Semele said in an interview that the two competitions, Africa-Of-My-Dreams and One Young World Summit, were meant to allow the youth to input meaningful contribution through writing an essay about the Africa they envisaged.
Mr Semele said that the ultimate winner would get an opportunity to create international networks as well as make contribution to policy making decisions for development in the African continent.“The competitions will allow the youth to be included in creating decisions on worldwide issues such as gender and climate change, simultaneously creating young leaders that can serve Africa and Botswana for a better future,” he said.
Often described as the “youth version” of the African Union (AU), AYUC is tasked with organising young people in Africa for the promotion of African unity and development through the linkage of youth debates and seminars.
The two competitions which are due by April 2, 2018 will be awarded before the end of the year with Africa-Of-My-Dreams competition, a first of its kind, being awarded to a young leader with an opportunity to go to Busan, Korea.
One Young World Summit competition on the other hand will be running for the seventh time according the winner to interact with world leaders in Hague, Netherlands.
Mr Semele decried that locals had not been participating in these competitions which had been running for years.
