AP launches in Maun

The Alliance for Progressives (AP) leader, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe has encouraged residents of Ngamiland to join AP which he says upholds quality leadership.
Mr Gaolathe, who was speaking at the regional launch of AP in Maun on December 16, said the party’s priority was human capital and that residents of Ngamiland should expect a new Botswana with permanent developments.
He said Botswana was the only country which its Parliament did not have an economic office which assessed and guided the potential of recommended projects.
Mr Gaolathe said AP had the potential to produce people with various expertise as it embraced people and their expertise.
The AP vice, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi said AP experienced growth in numbers since it was formed in October 2017.
Mr Mmolotsi said the party had over 70 000 registered members countrywide which he said would surpass the anticipated 100 000 members by end of 2018, saying this was a demonstration that the party had quality leadership with various skills which would help develop Batswana and the country.
He noted that the AP leader was an expert in economics who has advised about 10 countries.
Mr Mmolotsi said AP was a peaceful movement contrary to some reports.
He welcomed Boseja North councillor for Mochudi, Mr Tebogo Phalaagae and other members to the AP.
AP secretary general, Dr Phenyo Butale said the party was prepared to address the challenges affecting Batswana such as unemployment and corruption.
Dr Butale also said AP would uphold freedom of expression which would include freedom of the media.
Dr Butale therefore said AP would allow freedom for all and develop human capabilities for people to develop themselves and the country.
Sectors of the economy as agriculture, he said, needed to be further developed to bring desired results.
The AP deputy secretary general, Mr Moalosi Sebati said AP aimed to restore the purchasing power of the people of Ngamiland through farming and fishing.ENDS
