DCEC wishes to respond to an article published by in the Mmegi Newspaper of Friday 4th August 2017, which states that it has uncovered a sinister plot that its “elite” Unit has been disbanded is false and misleading.

First and foremost the DCEC is made up of Divisions and not Units, as highlighted in the article.

All the Divisions that make up the Directorate are still fully functional and no Unit has been disbanded, so it is very false and misleading to state that this is the case at the Directorate.

Further to the above, the transfer of former Deputy Director (Policy) Mrs Botlhale Makgekgenene to the Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security and those of other officers is in line with normal governmental transfers.
