BMD introspects Saturday

Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) secretary general, Mr Gilbert Mangole says preparations for the party’s elective congress scheduled for Bobonong were at an advanced stage and the party has arranged a water tight security to protect property and those that would be attending the congress.
BMD will hold its elective congress in Bobonong at Matshekge Senior Secondary School from tomorrow to July 16 to share various reports and elect a new National Executive Committee (NEC).
In an interview with BOPA, Mr Mangole stated that security was paramount considering problems the party was experiencing.
Mr Mangole also MP for Mochudi West, said BMD members would descend on Bobonong Friday and Saturday would be the official opening which would be followed by a closed session.
He indicated that the elections were scheduled for Saturday and all nine NEC positions would be contested for including 10 for additional members.
Sunday he said members would return to their bases.
He said the party was expecting not less than 45 constituencies with 12 delegates from each constituency, bringing the total number of those expected to attend to 500.
The secretary general highlighted that the majority of the constituencies had elected delegates except for a few expected to have finished the process by Wednesday.
Voters roll and issues of membership cards would be completed by Thursday, he indicated.
Paramount to the congress, Mr Mangole said were reports from different structures as well as the secretary general’s report on expelled members.
The party recently expelled party president, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe, vice president, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, women league president, Ms Joyce Mothudi, messers Pako Keokilwe and Harriet Rampa and former youth league president, Mr Phenyo Segokgo. ENDs
