01 May 2017

Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) leader, Mr Duma Boko has appealed to Tlokweng constituency voters to vote for Mr Kenneth Segokgo during the upcoming parliamentary bye- elections.

Mr Boko said on Sunday during the launch of the party parliamentary candidate in Tlokweng that Mr Segokgo was the ideal candidate for Batlokwa.

He further said the UDC candidate would continue where the late Member of Parliament, Ms Same Bathobakae left off in advocating for Batlokwa to get back their land. He accused government of ignoring Batlokwa land challenges.

He said the land issue needed a committed leadership and only Mr Segokgo could advance their interest without fear and favour.

Mr Boko pleaded with Batlokwa to vote UDC candidate, adding that the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) government was failing the country.

The UDC deputy leader and Botswana Congress Party (BCP) leader, Mr Dumelang Saleshando accused the BDP leadership of having “divided the country”, something that Mr Segokgo stood against.

Mr Saleshando said their candidate came from united opposition parties and knew the value of unity.

Furthermore, he said the ruling party had failed to create employment for the youth and had failed to raise the living standard of the poor.

Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) Vice president, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi accused the government of failing to distribute the wealth of the country well.

He said access to land was still a challenge to many people in the country.

For his part, Mr Segokgo pleaded with Tlokweng to vote for him on May 13 so that he could continue to fight for their land. He said Batlokwa were still awaiting feed back from the respomsible minister concerning their land challenges.

Mr Segokgo is facing Mr Elijah Katse of BDP and Ms Shirley Segokgo who is an independent candidate for the conctituency.  ENDS
