P2m for Raphalane Customary Court
18 Jun 2013
Construction of Raphalane Customary Court in Jwaneng is expected to commence this month and would take 16 weeks to complete.
The project, estimated at P2 million, comprised the main kgotla buildings, a parking lot and public toilets. In an interview on June 17, Jwaneng Town Council public relations officer, Ms Dinah Bogale said the project would be undertaken through the Ipelegeng programme.
“Everything is in place and as soon as the commissioning of the project is finalised, we expect the project to commence on June 24, 2013. We have purchased building materials which are already at the plot,” explained Ms Bogale.
She further noted that the funds were allocated last year but due to the tendering process challenges it was delayed until this year.
For his part, Raphalane Customary Court president, Kgosi Nkaelang Lekgoa said he was delighted about the building of the new customary court and that he was hopeful it would be completed on time.
He said the existing offices had hindered their work as they were too small and without proper furniture such as cabinets for filing, particularly because the building was for residential purposes. ENDS
