The Tlokweng parliamentary bye-election is scheduled for May 13.

According to a press release from the Secretary of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama issued a writ of election ordering the holding of a bye-election for the Member of Parliament for the Constituency.

“Nominations of candidates for the bye-election in the aforesaid constituency shall be received on April 21, from 9 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm at Tlokweng Community Hall,” the press statememnt says.

The constituency seat fell vacant after the death of the area MP Ms Same Bathobakae November last year.

A member of Botswana National Front (BNF) under the ticket of Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), Ms Bathobakae had previously defeated Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) candidate Mr Olebile Gaborone.

UDC has since identified Mr Kenneth Segokgo as their representative in the election while the BDP has settled for Mr Elijah Katse. ENDS
