It is with regret and disappointment that we once again express our concern over a news item appearing in the Sunday Standard newspaper.

In its latest (19 March 2017) edition the newspaper carries a front cover headline story alleging that a decision was reached at some unspecified time to relieve the Director General of the Directorate on Intelligence and Security (DISS) of his duties.

No such decision was made.

We find it rather unfortunate that this newspaper seems to have turned it into a hobby to come up with articles that regurgitate past hearsay, innuendo and occasional insult in a seemingly mischievous effort to undermine public confidence in institutions of state.

It is our hope that the public will, in this regard, see this latest rehashed story as a desperate attempt by the paper to fill its front-page. BGCIS
