Masisi calls for party harmony

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) chairperson, the Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi has implored the party’s women's wing to advance and endure internal harmony.

He is of the view that harmonious interaction within the party is critical as it stabilises the party consequently, heightensing their chances of staying in power.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of BDP national women's wing inaugural general assemble in Mahalapye on Sunday (December 4), Mr Masisi said harmony within the party could only prevail when  fellow BDP members  put the interest of the party at the forefront, rather than of the individuals.

Mr Masisi who is also an area Member of Parliament  for Moshupa/Manyana,  constituency advised colleagues  not  to paint  a bad picture of fellow BDP members during  primary election, saying that fuels internal conflicts or hatred  that could lead to some party members voting against them.  

Mr Masisi who held that  women's wing could not be ignored as they  outnumbers their male counterparts populace, appealed to the women side to have a positive role in making sure that the party stays in power.

The BDP chairperson warned if women sabotage party members they are not only incapacitating the party but they are also weakening the women power.

He advised women to learn and follow party policies and procedures so that their actions and decision are aligned with the principle of the party.

Further, he said the party should do the best to win the four impending by-elections saying they would use them to gauge how they will perform   in 2019 general elections.

He advised the BDP members to continue with their massive recruitment drive to have a pool of voters.

Mr Masisi commended the women wing to have arranged such assemble saying it would improve peace and stability within the party.

For her part, Women's wing chairperson, Ms Dorcas Makgato said such assemblies help them to   build women of substance and value.

Ms Makgato said they addressed political, economic and social empowerment aspects in that assemble.

She explained that they included their male counterparts since they cannot excel in isolation.  

She expressed gratitude towards the support they got from the party leadership. ENDS
