22 Jun 2016

Three electrical sub-contractors have been awarded tenders to undertake electrical works under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) in the Kgatleng District.

Speaking during opening of the Kgatleng full council meeting on June 20, council chairperson, Mr Mpho Morolong, said the project fell under the backlog eradication project at Segale Primary School.

He said implementation of the project had been packaged into classroom blocks, toilets and staff houses.

Mr Morolong said the P17.7 million project, which started last month and expected to be completed in April 2017, was running on schedule.

Still at Segale primary, construction of education facilities had commenced under ESP.

Mr Morolong said this comprised 13 classrooms, eight staff houses and three cubicle water toilet blocks.

He further told councillors that the tender for supervision of consultants for peripheral land servicing in Morwa, Bokaa and Pilane had been awarded and construction was anticipated to start in July, this year.

The chairperson said a tender for the construction of 32 houses worth more than P37 million had been awarded. About 16 houses for Linchwe and another 16 for Oodima junior secondary schools will be built. He said the contractor is still at mobilisation stage.

Mr Morolong said the project for the maintenance of education facilities at Bakgatle junior school had already commenced and progress was at 12 per cent. The project would cost more than P7.6 million.

He noted that the construction of Mmathubudukwane police station and 55 staff houses was at adjudication stage while a tender for grading of a 14 kilometre Kgamanyane-Ramokolonyane lands road had been closed and evaluation to commence this week.

Local companies that will undertake the projects include Rapula Plant Hire which will construct 13 classrooms, Mantee Construction won the tender for constructing toilets and DC Events Building Construction will build two 1x4 teachers’ quarters.

Other local companies that will benefit from ESP are Tshweu Construction and Designers which will construct staff houses at Linchwe and Oodima junior secondary schools while Assoc will maintain educational facilities at Bakgatle JSS.

The three electrical sub-contractors engaged are Floric Ven Holdings, Right Timing and Geephycs Electrical. ENDS
