Tutume ESP projects commence

Following the official launch of Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) in Tutume at the beginning of this month, many of the projects that have been slated for sub-district have started as planned.
Speaking at the beginning of a full council meeting in Tutume on Monday, the Sub-council chairperson Councillor Ishmael Mokgethi said they were delighted that many of their schools which were in a bad state and in need of serious maintenance, were among projects, which would be carried out during this financial year.
He said such projects included maintenance of sewerage pumps at Nata Senior Secondary School, construction of twenty and twenty-two staff houses at Moses Mengwe Memorial School at Maitengwe and John Nswazwi at Marapong respectively.
Cllr Mokgethi further noted other remaining projects are expected to commence very soon and he has tasked himself to fully take responsibility of monitoring progress throughout the projects in the sub-district and shall constantly update councilors on the state of the projects.
Furthermore, he urged them to act liable to anything which will need their attention as the leadership of the district through the implementation of ESP in their district.
“Let us all be part of the implementation process of this investment in our district,” he said.
On other issues, Cllr Mokgethi said as part of preparations for the Botswana Jubilee celebrations, a committee comprising of Balekane ba Botswana had been formed in Tutume to facilitate the commemorations.
He said the same gesture was going to be extended to other villages in the sub-district for purposes of consistency and alignment to the same vision regarding the celebrations.
In addition, he informed the house they have made a commitment to regularize and enhance their communication with the communities they serve.
Cllr Mokgethi said this was done in order to correct perceptions and close any gaps that could be created as a result of silence.
As such, they have made it their mandate to constantly communicate with their people and highlight all challenges they may have encountered in their effort to execute their mandate and further reveal their achievements.
To date, he said the office of the senior assistant council secretary had been meeting with the leadership in some of their villages with the aim of team building and collaboration. Ends
