Ramotswa hopeful about ESP

11 May 2016

Ramotswa constituency will benefit from the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP)

Among the envisaged projects is espansion of Boatle-Gaborone road into a dual carriage road, land servicing at Seuwane, construction of classrooms and servicing of Magope ward in Ramotswa.

The area MP, Mr Samuel Rantuana said this when addressing a kgotla meeting in Taung on Tuesday.

He said Boatle-Gaborone road, which is part of A1 road, would be constructed into a dual carriage road.

However, Boatle-Ramotswa road was not included in the ESP.

He said he was hopeful that the road would be considered in the future especially that Ngotwane Bridge would soon be operational and traffic flow from South Africa will increase.

Furthermore, Mr Rantuana conceded that Taung internal roads needed attention.

With regard to Seuwane, Mr Rantuana said he was hopeful that Balete would benefit from the envisaged 3 159 plots to be allocated.

He hoped that Malete Land Board would implement the new land policy that allowed for locals to have a reserved quota.

The MP said many residents were without plots in hence land servicing of Seuwane.

On other issues, Mr Rantuana decried poor performance by Kagiso Senior Secondary School, saying they were working with relevant stakeholders to address the poor performance.

For their part, residents decried poor service provision in their village, adding that the council was not prompt in addressing their needs.

One resident, Mr Gilbert Nawa said   government is low to implement and said he was hopeful that ESP impact will be felt in their area.

He said traffic congestion between Ramotswa and Gaborone is unbearable hence the construction of Gaborone-Boatle road into to dual carriage will be a relief.

Furthermore, he pleaded with government to consider refurbishing Ramotswa-Boatle road, which he said it is in  a bad state.

He added that there were roads in the area, which the council has promised to grave years ago, but that has not happened even up to today. ENDS
