Sewage project worries councillor

30 Mar 2016

Delay of the commencement of Molepolole sewage water project is worrisome.

Nominated councillor, Mr Motlhophi Leo, raised the concern during the on-going Kweneng full council meeting.

He was responding to Kweneng District Development Committee’s (DDC) presentation

Cllr Leo said no proper communication was made in relation to the project status. He said they had hoped that the project had reached the construction stage.

When presenting the report, the principal district officer development, Mr Kabelo Ntopo said the project was delayed due to financial constraints, adding that it was at the design audit stage, which would be completed by end of the year.

Mr Ntopo said the project would be getting into cadastral mapping stage since the previous process was affected by the development that was carried out after completion of the design work.

Councillors were informed that the general nutritional status of the under-five in the district was not improving; with severe and moderate malnutrition as well as growth failures exacerbated by diarrhoea and other common childhood illnesses.

To improve the state of affairs, the Ministry of Health had strengthened collaboration of survival intervention by expanding programme on immunisation.

Cllr Pitso Sekao of Mogoditshane aappealed to the ministry to act on the dilapidated Mogoditshane health post.

Cllr Mpho Mogwera of Thamaga South implored the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture to consider employing officers engaged in the internship programme upon completion of their service.

Hatsalatladi councillor, Mr Kolane Kolane appealed to the council to persuade Kweneng Land Board to expedite the relocation of people illegally occupying Mogabetlwane boreholes area to a place where they could be provided with social amenities. ENDS
