Club paints VDC houses
07 May 2013
A newly formed club in Kachikau, Forever Social Club painted four Village Development Committee houses over the weekend.
This was in response to the government call to the private sector and civil organisations to take part in the development of the country and to participate in poverty eradication initiatives.
The club was formed by 23 government employees based in Kachikau in February this year.
In an interview, chairperson of the club, Mr Galisano Tshiamo said they formed the club because of the growing number of underprivileged people in the village, the delayed implementation of projects and the growing number of out of school students.
Mr Tshiamo said they would work very hard to make a difference in the community of Kachikau by helping them “physically, physiologically and financially” and also to ensure that government projects are delivered on time.
He explained that the club is motivated by the Vision 2016 pillars, especially the compassionate and caring nation.
Mr Tshiamo stated that they need funds to meet their goal as a team and to keep the club active.
Their only income currently is the joining fee of P100 and the monthly subscription fee of P20 per member.
Furthermore, he said Kachikau residents should not be too dependent on government for everything, but rather they should try to help themselves.
He encouraged government employees all over the country to join hands and work as teams in order to accomplish the country’s vision.
He further stated that their mission is also to collaborate with other organisations or companies for to improve people’s lives.
The Chobe Arts Association chairperson, Mr Rancheke Rancheke appreciated what Forever Social Club is doing.
Mr Rancheke said they were planning to work together to educate residents of Chobe on government programmes such as the Youth Empowerment Scheme, Youth Development Fund, Back to School and others. He stressed the importance of working for the country whether or not you have money. He also encouraged the youth to avail themselves for community activities. ENDS
