Housing programmes progress well
23 Feb 2016
Chairperson of the North East District Council (NEDC) Ms Florah Mpetsane, says the district was allocated funds for 102 turnkey houses for the 2013/14 financial year.
She, however, noted that some beneficiaries were disqualified during assessment as they did not meet the requirements. She said this when addressing a full council meeting on February 22.
Ms Mpetsane, who said some of the houses were under construction in Tati West and Tati East, also pointed out that some units had not started as the Botswana Housing Corporation was experiencing shortage of contractors.
The chairperson said under the home improvement programme, out of the 13 houses for the year 2015/16 ,five were already complete while eight were at finishing stages.
She explained that currently the waiting list for home improvement stands at 53. Moving on to land management, she said the land registration exercise by Tati Landboard has already covered 12 out of 43 villages in the district. Ends
