Communities appreciate support
30 Apr 2013
Six communities that form Okavango Kopano Mokoro Community Trust (OKMCT) have appreciated the support and services offered to the trust.
The communities said this during a two-day Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Boro on Friday, where over 100 individual members from the concerned communities of Boro, Daunara, Ditshiping, Xaxaba, Xharaxao and Xuoxao gathered to be updated on the performance of the trust for the financial year ending 2012.
Officially opening the meeting, Councillor for Makgobokgobo, Mr Kitso Ngande said it was procedural to abide by the constitution for direction and guidance, hence the AGM to scrutinise the general performance and operations, report back on challenges, success as well as mapping the way forward.
Mr Ngande advised them not to treat the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) as their enemy but rather as professional advisors, adding that the trust should use them to their advantage.
Some of the community members, Mr Gideon Pitlagano and Mr Matlhagola Sebitso appreciated the trust services and support.
They commended management and the board for a sterling job, citing developments such as construction of six wooden bridges, empowerment of youth through sponsoring them to local colleges for further studies and assisting the communities on social welfare issues such as funerals and health.
Although they appreciated the good work, some of the community members complained that some of the resolutions from last year were not reflected in the minutes.
The AGM was held to amongst others discuss the 2012 resolutions, financial management and inform members on the general operations including future trust plans for the year 2013. ENDS
