Employees want better road networks

29 Oct 2015

Employees of various tourist camps in Chobe have called for upgrading of the Kachikau-Savuti road and access to cellphone networks.

The employees who are based in camps which are 40-70 kilometres away from the nearest village of Kachikau complained of no access to communicate with their families due to lack of cellphone network and Internet services in some instances.

“Staying for two months without talking to family is not good as we lose family members back home and miss their funerals,” said one of the employees from Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge Ms Batshwari Madumani.

The concerns were raised during a staff address over the weekend by the Member of Parliament for Chobe Mr Machana Shamukuni.

One of the employees from the same lodge, Mr Robert Moongalo complained about the state of the Kachikau- Savuti road which he said discourages government employees from bringing services to people in tourist camps.  Golokilwe Mbwe of Savute Safari Lodge explained that rainy seasons make the road worse as such services  as the mobile clinic decrease due to the state of the road.  Ends
