Tlokweng College of Education and Tlokweng Education Center sewerage reticulation project has been completed and within budget.
The assistant director in the Department of Building and Engineering Services (DBES) Mr Gokaiwamang Hetolang said this during a tour of the project by the Minister of Infrastructure Science and Technology Mr Johnnie Swartz on Thursday.
Mr Hetolang later told BOPA that the P8.9 million project had not incurred any costs overruns and was completed without major delays.
“There are no cost overruns so far . we have paid P6 million to the contractor but we still have other claims that the contractor will submit, but we are still within the budgeted amount of P8.9 million,” he said.
He added that the 8 kilometer internal sewage reticulation project, which was supposed to have been completed in February 22, would be officially handed over to the government in the near future.
However, Mr Hetolang said the project experienced minimal delays and the contractor was currently restoring the area to its initial standards.
The project site engineer Mr Nilson Ketjebile said the project was supposed to be eight months but had to be extended with about 22 days due to rains.
He said they were currently doing remedial works, which according to the contract could be done during the defect liability period.
“All the permanent works are complete, all the services that we had damaged have been repaired ,” he said.
He said they were only left with the repairing of telephone lines. They were still waiting for Botswana Telecommunications Corporation to give them the quotation so as to start the repairing process. ENDS
