President Lt Gen.Seretse Khama Ian Khama has told residents of Mosu that he is aware that the government owes them a tarred road.

Speaking at Mosu on December 28, President Khama said he has told the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo that the government has promised Mosu residents a tarred road.

“I told minister Mabeo that we owe Batswana tarred roads, including you (Mosu residents)” he informed residents.

President Khama explained that the government experienced a backlog of developments including construction of roads. 

He cited the past world economic meltdown as the major impediment, but vowed that they would tackle the backlog as the economy was improving.

President Khama was responding to Kgosi Thanyego Pemole’s concern about the bad state of the Mosu road.

Kgosi Pemole said the poor road condition hampers developments to their village. He said the road was hazardous and that pregnant women delivered on their way to hospital owing to its hash condition. 

He added that critically ill patients end up losing their lives on their way to the hospital due to the road condition.

However, Kgosi Pemole commended government programmes tailored to help the less privileged, citing Ipelegeng.

On the day, President Khama presented hampers to elders, destitute and children.

The elders and destitute received food hampers and blankets while children received sweets and snacks. The elders were also presented with Bibles and solar lights.

The area Member of Parliament, Mr Setlhomo Lelatisitswe praised President Khama for using his time to present gifts and celebrate the festive season with them.

Mr Lelatisitswe said the gesture shows that they have a loving President, and urged recipients to take care of the gifts.

On other issues, he implored resident to plough to improve food security as there was satisfactory rainfall. ENDS
