President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama says Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) prides itself with quality amenities countrywide.
Speaking at BDP star rallies in Sese and Samane on September 12, President Khama said when the party assumed power after independence, there were no developments, but the BDP took over and elevated the country to a better developed and most envied nation.
“There was nothing when the BDP assumed power, no amenities and mines-nothing at all but nowadays as people traverse the country they can see for themselves quality amenities that are provided under the leadership of BDP”.
The President said he is proud as a Motswana, the President of the country and BDP member for the quality of amenities provided countrywide across the political divide under the BDP leadership.
He said opposition parties have a tendency of criticizing the ruling party without taking into consideration achievements such building of schools, hospitals and roads under the BDP led government adding they should talk about issues of national interest that can benefit Batswana.
He urged Batswana to vote BDP in large numbers because it has experience and it stood the test of time. He said during the economic global recession, Botswana managed to hold firmly on its ground to maintain the economy because of the prudent and quality resource management skills that the leadership has.
He said the BDP had made significant progress in protecting the interests of Batswana by initiating a number of programmes all aimed at improving the livelihoods of all the citizenry.
Batswana, he said, must secure a brighter future for the country by voting for the BDP so that it could continue with good governance that it had portrayed since the country’s independence.
The President expressed optimism that a parliamentary candidate for Jwaneng – Mabutsane Constituency, Mr Mephato Reatile and council hopefuls would win the constituency.
He said Botswana National Front (BNF) has lost touch and many of its members have lost trust in that party saying recently 2000 BNF members joined the BDP something he described as an indication that the ruling party is credible.
He implored all democrats to vote to ensure that BDP win with a high margin. Ends
